Watch Your Drinks!
As you saw in the video, it doesn't take long to slip something into a drink. The most common reason for drink spiking is to facilitate date rape or sexual harassment.
Follow these tips to avoid a situation like this:
• Make sure that someone knows where you are and what time you are expected home.
• When going to a pub, club or party avoid going alone. Friends can watch out for each other and each other’s drinks. NEVER leave your drink unattended.
• Plan your night out including the journey there and back. Appoint a designated driver. If your plans change, let a friend know.
• Remember alcohol affects your actions, reactions and alert level. The more you drink the less likely you are to spot something suspicious. If you do not feel comfortable, remove yourself from the situation.
• Do not share or exchange drinks with others.
• Never accept a drink from anyone you do not completely trust.
• Drink from a bottle - it is far more difficult to drop a drug into a bottle than it is to drop a drug into a glass. If you wish to accept a drink from someone, have them open it in front of you.
• If you begin to feel drunk after only a drink or two, seek help immediately from a trusted friend or a responsible management member.
• Think very carefully before leaving an establishment with someone you've just met.
