Meet CPS Officer Jake Blair

Jake Blair, who joined the College Public Safety department earlier this year, has been a valuable addition to the team. He looks forward to getting involved in various campus activities and interacting with the Linfield Community. Here, we learn a little bit about Officer Blair:




CPS Officer Jake Blair (right) enjoys being part of the Linfield community and interacting with students, faculty, staff and College guests. Earlier this year he got to meet Sodexo’s visiting chef Mai Pham.






Q: Why did you choose to work for Linfield College Public Safety?
A: I enjoy working with the public and enjoy the responsibility of being a Public Safety Officer.


Q: What experience/jobs did you have before you came to Linfield?
A: I've played guitar and sang in a blues band for ten years and had a lot of fun with that. I worked at Third Street Pizza Company as a delivery driver for a year when I was 19. I've been working at Yamhill County Juvenile Corrections Division for 2 1/2 years.


Q: What training have you experienced before and during your time at Linfield?A: I've taken numerous defensive tactics trainings, as well as suicide prevention/intervention training, CPR/First-Aid certification, Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification, and am certified through DPSST [the State of Oregon’s Department of Safety Standards and Training] as an unarmed security officer.


Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A: Europe

Q: What is your favorite shift? Why?
A: Day shift. You get off early enough to have some day left to do whatever you want.

Q: What kind of hobbies or activities are you involved in outside of work?
A: Music: both listening and playing.

Q: What is your life motto?
A: You create the world you live in. Always be positive.

CPS Officer Jake Blair, the newest member of the CPS department, brings previous experience and training, along with a sense of humor, to the CPS team.





Q: If you could give one piece of advice to Linfield students, what would it be?
A: Always lock your doors, bikes, cars... In other words, if you can lock/secure it, do it.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
A: I love working at Linfield College as a College Public Safety Officer!
